Iced ube latte: the perfect back-to-school recipe
Share
Back-to-school doesn't mean saying goodbye to summer. With an iced ube latte, you stretch those warm days out into a tall purple glass, creamy and refreshing, ready in five minutes. Here's our lump-free, 100% natural recipe.

Why an iced ube latte for back-to-school?
Because it ticks every box right now: refreshing while it's still warm, comforting as the routine kicks back in, and naturally caffeine-free, so perfect even late in the day. Its spectacular purple comes only from ube, never from a dye. And it's one of the easiest drinks to nail at home.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon of Kinampay ube powder
- 2 tablespoons of hot water (to dissolve)
- 200 ml of milk of your choice (oat and coconut are perfect)
- 1 to 2 teaspoons of maple syrup or sugar (optional)
- A generous handful of ice cubes
The recipe, step by step
- In a glass or bowl, add the ube powder and hot water. Mix well into a smooth paste: this is the secret to a lump-free drink.
- Add your syrup or sugar if you like it sweeter, and stir again.
- Fill a tall glass with ice, then pour the cold milk over it.
- Pour the ube mixture over the milk, admire the purple gradient, then stir before enjoying.
Never pour the powder straight into cold milk: it would stay grainy. Always dissolve it first in a little hot liquid, then top up with milk. A mini whisk or a frother gives a perfectly smooth texture.
3 variations to try
- Coconut treat: swap the milk for coconut milk for an even creamier version.
- Intense purple: add half a spoon more powder for a deeper colour and taste.
- Ube tonic: an ube base, sparkling water and a dash of lime for an ultra-fresh drink.
